Check In
It’s October first. Sorry to say. I’ve been anticipating ripping the “September” page from my poster sized calendar and feeling a sense of dread. One of my friends recently said: “days are long, years are short”. I’m not sure where she got this clever adage but it stuck with me. The days are long and the years, months and weeks are flying. I’ve never been more aware of the passing of time than right now. The fact that I can reference one year ago and that I had already moved to LA is crazy because in my mind, I just moved and am still a new girl in town.
This morning, I had the privilege to appear on KTLA to host a segment about Breast Cancer Awareness, a cause I am passionate about. Breast Cancer has impacted almost every person I know in some way. For me personally, I watched one of my dearest friends successful yet challenging battle with the disease. I feel lucky to be able to share such important information about such an important cause. But more than that, preparing for this segment reminded me that no matter what is happening in the world, health is everything and something we cannot neglect. I have been lucky to work for brands like Bloomingdale’s that have always supported Breast Cancer Awareness. I was blown away working on today's segment at how much advancement has been made online to increase education, awareness, early detection and prevention. I am also inspired by the level of generosity each brand is making to this cause despite challenging economic times. The people behind these brands are leaders and their humanity, giving spirit and consciousness (yes, I mean as in they are awake and aware) gives me hope right now. Below are the items we featured (including a few we ran out of time to show!! ) and links to the charities to which you can make a donation. Pausing to make sure you are taking care of your own health and giving to a great cause can give some perspective to things right now when the days feel long and hard.
xoxo
