Pink Ladies

This week I had the honor to dress three women who have all been profoundly affected by breast cancer. Two are survivors and one a co-survivor. They shared their personal stories with me and in partnership with Johnny Was, Kendra Scott jewelry and Christian Louboutin we created three head to toe looks as part of a makeover for E! News. I can tell you that if I learned anything on this shoot, it is that true beauty lies within and that the mind leads where the body goes. Taking care of yourself is so important. These women are not only inspiring and resilient, they are mentally tough. My new role models.

Kimberly, one of the survivors, said that “sometimes you need to dress in a manner you don’t feel on the inside” which was a great reminder to me about the power of clothing. Clothing can brighten our spirits and alter our state of mind. I loved this reminder -- it’s one of the reasons that has kept me motivated to be part of the fashion community for so long. Clothing is one layer that can make us feel like the best version of ourselves. It has mood altering capabilities...period.

It felt like the right moment to wear this Vince pink look. It’s not only the hue that brings awareness to breast cancer during the month of October, but also happens to be one of fashions’ colors of the season. I’ve been feeling drawn to monochrome ensembles lately from head to toe ivory to lipstick shades of pink. As I adapt to new temperatures and a more relaxed style of dressing in Los Angeles, I’m finding I want to wear just about every color on the wheel except...wait for it…. black!! If the outside can inspire the inside to match, then a little color therapy feels like a smart choice to brighten any mood. Please be sure to tune in this Tuesday October 29th in the 7 o’clock hour nationwide on E! News.

Below are many of the items I added to my fall wardrobe and pieces I have my eye on.
