Please tell me you’ve heard of Capri Sun? Am I dating myself? Raise your hand if you remember with joy unearthing one of those silver vacuum packed drinks inside your “Strawberry Shortcake” lunchbox? Not only was the juice inside delicious, the imagery of palm trees and undulating waves on the packaging made me feel like I was sipping something special, even exotic at lunchtime #childofthe80’s.
Read More“Prints are personal Brooke”. I had never heard this expression before. Wise words uttered by my kind boss Frank as he prepared me for what lay ahead. Handy adages are in abundance at Bloomingdales. They echo in the halls reverberating from the ghosts of buyers past, always readily available to be plucked from the air and repeated. Prints are personal. Boy did I learn that lesson. I would like to update the expression and go so far as to say “Prints are actually Polarizing”.
Read MoreIt’s hard to believe it’s Memorial Weekend!! No matter what year it is, it feels like re-imagining the color white is top of mind for us gals- again. On my most recent visit to NBC’s New York Live, I showed four ways you can rethink the hue for summer 2018. I guess you could call me a francophile. I love all things French or seemingly so. It begins with the beautiful sounding words, the understated and seemingly effortless style, the most perfectly roasted chickens (my favorite thing to eat in life), bearnaise sauce, magical potatoes in all forms #frites #roasted #whipped #duckfat #gratin, heavenly baguettes, fromage, beurre, earthy Bordeaux wine and the most beautiful flower arrangements of all time-- just for starters. My mind is filled with words in all shapes, sizes and forms. In my mind, there is a series of original song lyrics and captions I fantasize about attaching to stories both written and unwritten. I write captions in my head all day long for possible outcomes of unforeseen scenarios as well as actual scenarios. I pick new theme songs to movie openers, make up raps about people I know and even poems in rhyming couplets on a good day. If you’re not paying attention, you might swim up on an ancient lyric by Phil Collins, meet Slash guitar jamming or possibly Juliet on her balcony.

I grew up not wearing any black anything. Outside of my high school uniform, my weekends were spent in jeans and preppy coordinates from J Crew. I started embracing the color black as a theater person in college.
Read MoreThe Slip Dress has been one of my favorite trends for a few seasons. At first I was skeptical that wearing the equivalent of a nightgown could work for me in my actual day-to-day life particularly in the daylight hours.
Read MoreWelcome to my world. This is my first blog post and I’m excited to connect with you. Why am I blogging? I have asked myself this question a lot! I have several reasons. The most obvious answer for anyone who knows me is that I was born a “Chatty Cathy” or perhaps a “Babbling Brooke” is more fitting. I love nothing more than sharing stories and things I’ve learned with my friends, family and now you! I love to talk.. always have AND I love an audience. I’m simply schmoozy.
